The Swan is a charming property in the beautiful village of Lavenham, with a warm atmosphere and great staff who made dining a pleasurable experience. However, several basic expectations were not met, particularly regarding room comfort and noise management. While the food quality stood out, the accommodation left much to be desired in terms of maintenance and sleep quality, especially given the price point.

Our stay at the Swan was quite mixed; we enjoyed the charming historical ambiance and the lovely village of Lavenham, but there were notable shortcomings with the service and room comfort. The dining was also hit or miss, with some excellent food marred by slow service at breakfast. While it has a unique character and good dining options, it's clear that certain aspects need improvement to match the premium prices.

Our room was spacious but felt somewhat dated and lacked adequate ventilation, especially on warm nights. It could definitely use a refresh to live up to the expectations set by the hotel’s reputation.

The hotel is situated in the heart of Lavenham, making it easy to explore the quaint shops and historic sites. This location adds a lot to the experience as the town itself is quite beautiful.
Dining

While the food was of high quality, especially at dinner, breakfast was notably poor due to disorganization and delayed service. With some issues in timing, it felt frustrating despite the tasty options available.

The spa area was quite limited and lacked a swimming pool, which was disappointing given the hotel’s branding. However, it was clean and the treatments available looked promising.

During my stay at the hotel, I encountered a mix of positives and negatives. The hotel is steeped in charming historical ambiance, and I appreciated the luxurious spa services, which provided a wonderful relaxation experience. However, my dining experience was less than ideal due to slow service and a lack of variety. Despite some inconveniences with the room temperature and service fluctuation, the overall atmosphere and staff attentiveness made the stay enjoyable.

The hotel has a charming medieval architecture that adds character, and it offers a lovely spa with great services. Unfortunately, some dining experiences were underwhelming, and the staff at times seemed unengaged with guests, which detracted from the overall experience. While the rooms were clean, they lacked some modern touches, and the view from my room was disappointing.

While the spa facilities at The Swan are fantastic and definitely a highlight, my recent stay was marred by some underwhelming aspects. The rooms could use a bit more attention, and the dining experience didn't quite meet my expectations. I appreciated the warm service, but overall, I felt the hotel could improve in various areas to justify the prices they charge.
